Here is Scarlett the boxer, we rescued her in Sept of 2015, she was very tiny and is still pretty tiny. She is wonderful with the kids, a little spiteful and now likes to shimmy under our fenced in yard if she hears us out front, so our beautiful fence is now lined with chicken wire!! We love her and couldn't ask for a sweeter buddy for our other boxer Bryn, our babies and us!! Thank you!

Nellie 2

1 year ago today, I brought home this 7yo bundle of joy named Nellie, with no idea what I was in for. She was terrified of everything & everyone. She spent the first few weeks cowering, her tail wrapped around her hind leg. She had never been inside a home, let alone house-trained. I could barely get her around the block on a leash. She was never socialized and didn't know how to interact with people or other dogs. We still have a long way to go, but she's made a ton of progress since then. She mastered house-training a while ago and now lounges freely in her castle all day. She walks beautifully on her leash 4 miles a day, 98% of the time (1% randomly lunging at car tires, 1% stopping in the middle of the street and refusing to budge when she's had enough). She grows more and more confident, approaching and sniffing curious new things (rather than fleeing), and enjoys meeting new people - even letting most of them pet her. She's gained weight and no longer devours all food within reach. She rides in the car, loves going hiking in the mountain, and even visits the nursing home. I'm so glad I stopped by Pets Come First that day - when I didn't even realize I wanted a second dog! lol Nellie cracks me up, and reminds me every day to appreciate & enjoy the little things in life when she forgets that we're on a walk or that she came outside to pee and randomly stops, drops, and just rolls in the grass. Thank you, Pets Come First!!

This is Mia. When I got her, her name was Shelby. These are recent pictures of her after I got her she was very thin when I got her and now she weighs 75 lbs. She was very skidish of almost everything when I got her and now she loves four wheeler rides and other dogs and loves the snow! She is my beautiful girl that's growing up way to quick. Lol but I thought I would share some pics of her now.

I wanted to take a minute and update the staff on a happy adoption. We adopted Coy from y’all in October of 2012. 3 + years later he is still a very happy addition to our home. Home anyone could give away such a sweet and loyal companion is beyond us. The first picture is the one you had. The second is Coy in his new home with his “sister” Zoey. The third is Coy with his sisters Blondie and Casey.

Happy 2nd birthday to this "Big Lug" who is often referred to by his French name "Buchard", or "Butchie" by the kids, but really his name is Butch. We rescued him just over a year ago and have enjoyed every minute with him. He enjoys long early morning walks, tearing his stuffed animals to shreds, playing fetch, tug of war, but mostly he loves snuggling his people (even his little people). He putsup with a lot from the kids (laying on him, taking his toys, and often getting him into trouble because they feed him their food when they aren't supposed too!) Here's to many more birthdays with you Buchard. We are so lucky to have you in our family. 🐕💙Thanks Pets Come First for helping us find the best dog for our family!

This is Shari ... I adopted her in August after graduating from PSU. She now resides in Philly with me in her furrever home. I couldn't ask for a more loving cat, she waits for me at the door when I come home from work and is always by my side. So grateful for Pets Come First for finding sweet kitties like Shari a loving home.

It has been about 6 months since I brought "Ricky" home, she has lovingly been renamed Shadow, and has found a new brother in Twisty. She seems to FINALLY be comfortable... She has even become accepting of the dog...

I was nervous with how things were going, but the kids were there visiting yesterday, and everything is good. I never thought that a little dog could melt the hearts of a bunch of old people, but they are all in love with him. He goes in with them during meals, and though he still favors his leg as long as you don’t touch it he is fine. Turns out he only chased one truck that had a cattle trailer on backing into the barn. He wasn’t out on the road like I imagined. He is too nosey of what is going on with the boys to pay attention to the road. He sleeps with Tim, worn out from his day. I was nervous that he would chew things, Naa he is too tired for that but he is up bright and early to go milk the cows. He lays in the parlor while they milk just like he has been there forever. I think we have a perfect match, he will probably spend the rest of his life covered in cow poop and mud but as long as he is happy who cares. You will have to stop up and see him at some point.

Just wanted to let you know that Sofia, The Cat Formerly Known as Denise, is doing great! She is SUCH a sweetheart, very gentle and loving. She's still adjusting to my other kitties but is making progress. She loves exploring...everywhere! Attached is a pic of her on a shelf above my kitchen sink. From there she watches me do the dishes. She doesn't help, mind you, just watches :-) She also loves running up and down the hallway. When I hear cat-galloping, I know it's her. When she's not exploring, running or asking for a cuddle, she naps amongst the blankets on the couch or in the recliner. She appears to be a happy little kitty. Overall, she is a wonderful addition to our little family. Thank you so much for letting me bring her home to us.

Hello! Our family adopted Alice, the Australian Shepard mix puppy, last week. (We've renamed her Maya). I had shared with some of your staff that she wasn't getting along well with our other dog. Well seemingly overnight she has taken to our other dog, Delilah. She is such a wonderful fit with our family and is so bright and loving! I wanted to share a few pictures of her in her new home

Thank you, everyone at Pets Come First! Unclus is snoring soundly knowing he's found his forever home! This weekend he enjoyed his first road trip with us and he got along so well with all of the family and dogs he met (including cousin Aimee, PCF alum)! He is learning to play chase with his new sister Chloe (PCF 2014 alum) and loving belly rubs! An overall sweet guy, full of life and love! You guys do the work of angels! Forever grateful for ALL the lives you save and new families you bring together!

My name is Sophie who adopted a cat from PCF in Jan, 2015. I know that it is really late to say this, but I really want to say thank you so much for giving my family and me an opportunity to meet this precious cat that has become one of our family members. His name was Trapper (now he is called “Mapo” which is my hometown name) and Trapper and I moved to South Korea last May 🙂 Thankfully all of my family members love him and we cannot imagine our lives without him 🙂 Thank you again for allowing me to adopt this healthy cat! (another shelter didn’t let me adopt a cat because I was an international student…) I hope other people can also get to meet precious cats and dogs at PCF!  See pictures below…

Happy Tail – Wyatt

Attention “Happy Tail” lovers – it doesn’t get much better than this update about Wyatt the cat! This is a longer update, but shows that sometimes it just takes the right family and home for an animal that seems shy, frightened, or reclusive at the shelter to settle in and come out for their shell in their new home.

Wyatt came to PCF as a kitten, but for some reason was continuously overlooked by potential adopters. He was moved into the cat colony where he proceeded to mostly avoid people by sleeping and hiding in the boxes, pillows, or enclosures in the room. This limited interaction with people didn’t help Wyatt’s hopes to find a new home, and soon he had been at the shelter for 2 years. Wyatt has a special place in the hearts of everyone at PCF, but they truly wanted him to find his forever home. Well it was meant to be one day…and now we will leave the story up to his NEW FAMILY!!!

“My name is Mitchell and about 2 1/2 months ago my wife Naomie and I adopted 3 cats from the Pets Come First shelter. Two were kittens “Wendy kitten”, now Starfire and “Ace” – a female, now Tigerlily. We also adopted a 2 year old cat named Wyatt – a beautiful grey and white male who had been at the shelter since he was a kitten, over two years at PCF. Wyatt was very scared and in fact had to be caught by a couple of workers just to be put in his carrier to come home with us. The first 24 to 48 hrs Wyatt was completely reclusive but after a little time he began to let my wife and I touch him and he would play with strings or chase a laser pointer beam light image. By Christmas he was coming to us when we called him and was even getting up on our bed. Even with our initial interactions with Wyatt we could tell he was a very affectionate, loving and gentle cat.

Today, after less than 90 days in our household Wyatt has become a very active member of our household. He sleeps in the bed with me and my wife or in his rug-lined cat tower. He comes upstairs for his breakfast and to play with the kittens. He seeks attention from me and my wife almost every time we go are in our bedroom and office. Wyatt has several toy mice and he carries them into our presence and “meows” until we come and see him and give him attention. Wyatt is a total sweetheart and one of the most gentle, affectionate cats I have ever adopted. He will let me stroke him from his chin to his stomach without an aggressive move. He is a wonderful addition to our household and has totally thrived in his new home. He plays with the other kittens.”

THANK YOU Mitchell and Naomie for giving Wyatt a chance to have a great life in your home!

Happy Tails – Nov 2015

November Happy Tails!!!

These are some “Happy Tails” that we have received over the last few months from owners who adopted their new family member from Pets Come First! The comments from the owner are listed in the comment for each photo! We love getting updates on PCF alums – it helps to brighten our days and reaffirm why we are here! Thank you to everyone that has adopted a pet, and please share your Happy Tail with us!

Today is the 1 year anniversary of Gwinnie's rescue and coming to live with us! We are so happy that she has joined our family. She is definitely a momma's girl, but she also adores her coonhound siblings, and loves (tolerates) her dad. Her favorite spot is our (her) king size bed, and she shares it with us at night laying on the pillows between our heads. She is still nervous around new people, but she is extremely happy at home in her normal routine. We now can successfully get her into the house with relative ease, but she does still enjoy running, playing, and rolling around outside in the yard. She has learned to go on leashed walks, and learned the excitement of treats before bedtime! Please consider adopting a pet into your life. It can be a very rewarding experience to truly help an animal in need, and adopting often opens up room at a shelter for another animal to be rescued.

George - our Havanese mix canine companion. Joined our Family on July 17, 2008 from Pets Come First. It was heaven on earth having him in our family these past 7 years 4 months. Thank you Dana Warrender, for fostering the Little Guy who was our cherished George. Thank you for allowing us to become his forever home. After a heartbreaking diagnosis of salivary gland cancer, and losing 1/3 of his body weight, George made the journey over the Rainbow Bridge on November 15, 2015.

HAPPY HALLOWEEN from Nellie!!

HAPPY HALLOWEEN from Nellie!!

Almost nine months since Miss Nellie B. (left, sister Luc on right) made her journey from Miami, Florida to her HOME here with us. Couldn't have happened without PCF and Stephanie, who shared her picture with us before she even made it to PCF! She made herself right at home, immediately disemboweling the first of many stuffies, our cat, Ida Ho, immediately fell in love with her and Luc is thrilled to finally have someone to boss around. Nellie B. and Luc make a wonderful team and are rarely far from one another. This little girl put the sparkle back in Luc's eyes ... can't thank you all enough!

It is hard to believe it had been almost six months to the day that we added this beautiful girl to our family. Gemma is learning her boundaries and loves going on walks. She has been a wonderful addition to our family. Thank you Pets Come First for giving us the opportunity to add her to our family.

Daisy is doing great in her new home. It's only been a little over 24hrs, but she was definitely meant to be a part of our family. Kids and other furbabies all loved her immediately!

Cooper is enjoying his new view! Super happy and he has shown us his playful side. Daily walks to the dog park have helped him to build up muscle in his legs, and he's shown a lot of improvement in his gait. He's even been doing stairs like a pro with his protective booties on.

Bear - I was lucky to adopt this great dog yesterday, spent his first night in his forever home and did absolutely outstanding! Not a single whine or whimper, but clearly seen in this photo he has claimed the bed.

Blaze

Blaze 1

Blaze was a 7 year old Cocker Spaniel Mix that came to Pets Come First after being left behind by his owner at a rental property.  After Blaze arrived to the shelter he was neutered, updated on shots, groomed, and then found his new family!  This is their update on Blaze!!

We just wanted to write in about how happy we are to have Blaze as part of our family! I know at first there was nervousness on our part, as we didn’t know what the reasons he was surrendered for were. However, we simply can’t imagine why someone would give up this wonderful guy…. but we are glad they did because he is now a part of our family! He adjusted wonderfully, and loves playing with our children and with us. I have since discovered though that he LOVES fresh zucchini bread…straight from the cooling racks.  :/  I guess he was telling me I needed one less loaf. LOL!!!
He may be 7, but he is a puppy at heart 🙂 We are just so thankful that we can report a happy tail, and that this “shelter dog” proved to be exactly the right fit for our family.
Gabriel, Heather & Family
Thank you for providing such a fun and happy home for Blaze!!

LeonLeon2We adopted Leon two months ago, and it has been great!

Leon loves to go on hikes and play with his new friends at Tudek Park. Having him around has filled our home with joy and laughter. He is a goofy and fun dog, and we couldn’t be happier. — Adrienne Crivaro

Leah

leah-1leah Thank you for Leah.. aka Roxy… she is like an angel to us!!! She was made for our home and loves it here. She has a special attachment to our youngest and loves to run and fetch. But must of all…she loves to cuddle! Adopting a shelter pet is the best way to go. when we let her out of the car, she ran straight to the door of the house and ran in like she knew this was her furever home! We love her..thank you!!!

Willow

WillowI just wanted to give you an update on Pumpkin, now named Willow.  I’m so happy to have been able to adopt her.  She is fitting in really well in her new home.  I’ve attached a picture of her and her new brother Duce.  I love her so much and can’t imagine life without her now.  Thank you so much again for the opportunity for me to adopt her.
